5 Reasons You Should You Get A Wedding Video

Are you undecided if you should get a wedding video? Don't worry; you're not alone.

Most of the time, the wedding video is the first thing on the chopping block. And it makes sense. Weddings can be expensive.

Trying to prioritize what you need for your wedding is hard, especially if you're on a tight budget.

With that in mind, we thought we'd share a few reasons why we think you should get a wedding video.

Yes... we know, we're probably a bit biased on this (since you know, we film weddings). However, we think we have a pretty fair idea if you should or shouldn't get one.

If we don't convince you after reading this article, then maybe a wedding video isn't for you. Without further ado, let's talk about our top 5 reasons why we think you should get a wedding video.

1. Wedding videos allow you to relive your wedding in a way pictures can't

Let's address this right away- this isn't a knock on photography. We think both videos and photos are essential for you to get.

However, they are two completely different things, and they will elicit emotions in different ways. Photos will allow you to escape reality and reminisce that moment in time.

It'll bring up the same feelings you had, likely bringing a smile to your face, as you remember that exact point in time as only you can.

And as you think back, you'll start remembering all of the moments and emotions that you felt throughout the day, all from one image.

Photos are super powerful, and that's why we always encourage you to get a photographer. However, watching a video allows you to experience your wedding in an entirely different way.

Wedding videos do more than bring up your favorite memories- they let you relive it.

Watching a wedding video will show you everything that happened as it was.

You'll get to hear the toasts.

You'll see your friends and family smiling and crying.

You'll experience the laughing and crying of your loved one.

You'll get to hear the first words your partner said to you when they saw you for the first time.

You'll see things that you didn't even know happened that'll bring a massive smile to your face.

Wedding videos do more than remind you of the day; they tell your story. Something that you can experience again and again, and share with your loved ones through the test of time.

Not only will you love it the day you get it, but you'll be able to share the moments with your family down the road.

If you decide to have kids, or already have children, they'll get to see their younger parents in their most joyous moments.

We believe that this is the biggest reason you should get a wedding video. However, we've got a few more!

2. You'll see things you didn't even know happened

One of the most enjoyable parts about watching a wedding video is seeing all of the fantastic moments you didn't even know happened.

While you're off getting ready for your big day, the wedding videographer will be capturing moments with your partner and your guests.

You'll see reactions from your friends and family in ways that a single picture couldn't possibly show.

During your wedding, you'll quickly realize how much of your focus is on making sure everything is going as planned, even if you're consciously trying not to think about it.

When you sit down to watch your video, you'll realize how many things happened that you completely missed. It's the job of the videographer to make sure they capture all of those moments, and when they do, you'll be so glad you got a video.

That moment when the Best Man had a hilarious reaction to your kiss down the aisle? We'll get it.

That moment your parents cried as you stood on the altar? We'll get that too.

The day moves fast, it'll be a blur, and your wedding video will allow you to enjoy those moments at any time, as they were, in ways that nothing else could do.

3. Video has evolved and is more popular than ever.

Now, this is a bit more general, but video creation has completely changed from what it was before.

Up until just a few years ago, most social media channels didn't even allow you to post videos.

You were limited to watching videos on YouTube, and even then, YouTube took some time before it gained its popularity.

Nowadays, Facebook and Instagram are substantial video platforms, and people love watching it. YouTube is one of the most trafficked websites in the world, and it's all because technology has grown to allow video to explode in popularity.

With technology expanding so quickly, it's paved the way for videography to dominate in the social media atmosphere.

Ten years ago it would be easy to argue that wedding videos aren't that important. Back then, the style of wedding video that you typically saw was someone sitting in the back of the room filming the entire event from one spot.

The audio was often terrible, making it impossible to hear anything, and visually the video was so awful in quality that it was painful to sit through. However, that is no longer the case at all.

Wedding video highlights have become so much more enjoyable to watch and are created in a very cinematic way. They're fantastically made, including all of the significant moments of your wedding, and beautiful to watch.

We can confidently say that nearly every single one of our brides have told us that watching their video made them cry.

We very much believe that videography will only grow in popularity, and will eventually become as much as a staple to weddings as the wedding photographer.

4. Your video will be easy to share online with friends and family

The idea that your video will be easy to share online with your friends and family ties into our point that video is growing in popularity.

As mentioned previously, Instagram and Facebook used to not let you upload videos at all. Pretty hard to imagine when you see how the platforms operate today.

What we've seen is that our couples will almost immediately post their teasers (1-minute trailers that we create two weeks after filming their wedding) to their social media accounts.

The reactions they get from their friends and family quickly affirm their decision to get a video. Once we complete their wedding highlight, they'll then post that too.

And it's all so easy to do with YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Even if you're not interested in sharing it with the world, you always have the option to do so.

But we can guarantee if you do, you'll be seeing plenty love.

5. You will forget things

With all of the reasons we've listed above, this is one of the more critical reasons we recommend you get a wedding video.

From the moment you wake up, your wedding day will fly by: With all of the prep, getting hair and makeup done, suits ready, dress put on, arriving at the venue, walking down the aisle, visiting with friends and family, taking photos, listening to the toasts, the first dance, throwing the bouquet and garter, dancing the night away and everything in between - its easy to see that there's a lot going on.

Unfortunately, with all of the movement of the day, it's incredibly easy for things to blur together. It's not uncommon at all to forget certain moments all together.

You might remember bits and pieces, but recalling them in their entirety may be challenging.

And it's not your fault at all; you're living in the moment, which is exactly what you should be doing.

It's not until later that you begin to realize that you don't quite remember all of the beautiful and heartfelt words that the closest friends and family shared with you.

To hammer this point home, we did not get a wedding video.

It's the biggest reason we decided to start the business we did.

We heavily regretted not getting one and looking back, it's difficult to recall so many things.

As we were writing this up, we thought back to our wedding and couldn't even think of the song that played during the Mother/Son dance (we eventually remembered), and could only remember tidbits from the four toasts we had.

Granted we have some cell phone footage, but it doesn't compare to what a dedicated wedding videographer can produce.

So is a wedding video right for you?

Ultimately, that decision is up to you. We put out some of the best reasons we think you should get one.

And, to be completely honest, if you're reading this article - You've likely made up your mind.

Don't join the club that we're in - the "our biggest regret was not getting a video" club. Because you'll find that couples who didn't get a video, will almost always say it's their biggest regret.

Don't be us. Don't have that regret. If you're on the fence about a wedding video, you'll absolutely wish you got one the moment your day comes to a close.
